Sonnie Badu
At a very young age, Sonnie Badu started his ministry by performing in Accra, Ghana, his homeland.
Sonnie was brought up in a strict Christian home; every Sunday, his father, Reverend Agyeman Prempeh, a well-known preacher in Accra, the capital, would wake his kids up with a cane so they could go to church. He would develop a lifelong desire to serve the Lord as a result of this discipline.
In addition to his long-standing success as a musician, he is well-known for his efforts as a philanthropist, businessman, author, and motivational speaker.
Perhaps the most successful gospel export to come out of Africa in recent years is him. Sonnie, one of the world’s most consistently popular live artists, has performed in nearly every country and is ranked highly on all lists of greatest worshippers. His distinctive singing are as identifiable as his handcrafted fashion accessories.
His theatrical presence is a striking example of an artist who understands what attracts and retains a large following. He is changing lives all over the world with his special fusion of close-knit worship, stunning imagery, and his dynamic approach to leading congregations into God’s presence.
Being Listed as number 57 in the top 100 Most Influential Ghanaians of all time, Sonnie Badu is determined to keep soaring.
At the moment, he is busily pursuing his Master’s and a doctorate in religion and fine art simultaneously under the supervision of distinguished Dr Ron Kenoly.
Again he was recently honored as the most outstanding Ghanaian in diaspora in the Netherlands and also listed in the top 11 most influential Ghanaians abroad.
He has numerous businesses such as “The Worship Radio”, Badu Homes, Dizney Daycare, iWorship Magazine, Eagle Eye Football Agency, Private Jet Consulting, Four24 Records, and so many more|. He has managed to globalize his music empire with teams all over, especially in Canada, Europe, USA, and Africa. Innovation is not for the faint of heart, nor for those who lack the capacity.
Sonnie is the only African gospel artist to fill stadiums to capacity, an achievement in which only Osibisa, a secular group could achieve. He is more than just an A-list artist- He is simply a Cultural Phenomenon “The Worshipper” as he’s been dubbed, has been on various stages around the world such as The Historic Waldorf Astoria, Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena and so many more.
On these platforms with him were the likes of Cece and Bebe Winans, Juanita Bynum, Kim Burrell, Jonathan Nelson, Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, Tasha Cobbs, Jason Nelson, Donnie McClurkin, Noel Robinson, Muyiwa, Byron Cage, Kurt Carr, Lionel Peterson, Dr. Ron Kenoly, Judy Jacobs, Martha Munizzi, Kirk Franklin, Alvin Slaughter, Phil Driscoll, Fred Hammond, just to name a few.
For Sonnie Badu, it is an honor and privilege to stand and lead God’s children in the art of spiritual intimacy. His ministry houses the presence of God and where God’s heart is; His hand will be. This is the grace has made way for him to lead worship for Bishop T. D. Jakes, Bishop Tudor Bismark , Pastor Matthew Ashimilowo, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, Archbishop Duncan Williams, Pastor Kingsley Appiagyei, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Papa Ayo Oritsejafor, and many more.
Testimonies of healing and breakthrough follow him wherever he sets up to praise and worship and his “International Worship Summit” In Recent Years Bears Witness to that.
Apart from the unqualified expressively awe-inspiring worship anointing; creative and yet simplistic motivational speaking grace, Sonnie is endowed with writing skills that have culminated into authoring six best-selling Christian books. Currently apart from his academic pursuit, Sonnie’s primary task is to help improve the lives of the less privileged especially in Africa. In this regard, he has stepped up his Ministry’s Charity Project, ‘Thy Dwelling Place’ Orphanage, while he maintains his Ambassadorial status at Hope Orphanage. He is happily married to Ann-Marie, and they both reside in London.
